Structural Ply is exactly what the name suggests. It is rated and tested to comply with building standards for new builds. It is stamped on the reverse side of the sheet with the manufacturing techniques and the compliance level. These have excellent faces and solid edges.
Currently we only stock H3 Treated structural plywood with a clean face and knotty back (CD Grade). Allowing more options to be achieved using the same sheet. If you are after a quantity of either DD or untreated structural ply please get in touch with our office and we can order in a specific quantity for your project.
Our stocked structural ply is available in 7, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21mm thicknesses. Other sizes and specifications by request.
NON STRUCTURAL PLYWOOD
Non Structural plywood is ply that has not been tested. It is square edged and generally has solid edge lines. It usually is downgraded from structural by sanding errors in the face. Faces vary from batch to batch but are generally pretty good. Non structural is the middle ground between the structural and the downgrade ply.
Non structural ply is suitable for all those jobs that don’t require a permit from the council but still require a product the will last the distance. There are a multitude of uses, but the main ones include cladding sheds and buildings under 10 square meters, Farm uses, trailer decks, and lining buildings.
Non structural ply is available in both H3 treated and Untreated. Stocked thicknesses include 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, and 21mm
Demolition Traders stock a huge range of lining ply. Our range of ply lining products includes poplar core, birch, and paulownia. All of these ply have unique features that make them ideal for lining but one thing stands out…. They all look good.
Poplar Core (or Okume) is a hardwood faced ply with a poplar core. It is reddish-brown in colour and usually has a face free of knots and other defects but has a unique grain which creates interest. It is ideal for lining mancaves, sheds and sleepouts. This is a non structural product. Poplar core is available in 2400 x 1200 sheets in 4, 6, 9, 12 and 18mm thicknesses.
Birch ply is a hardwood faced ply with a poplar core. It is tan coloured and usually has a face free of knots and other defects but has a unique grain which creates interest. It is ideal for lining mancaves, sheds and sleepouts. This is a non structural product and is available either pre-finished or in the raw form. Currently our birch ply is only available in 9mm, 2440 x 1220 sheets.
Paulownia is an extremely lightweight ply, with an good face full of character. Generally it has a few tiny knots creating an interesting grain swirl pattern. This is a product ideal for lining caravans, buses, boats and horsetrucks. Excellent faces with all the weight saving benefits. This ply would weigh half the weight of an equivalent pine sheet. Currently available in 9 and 18mm, 2440 x 1220 sheets.
Demolition Traders usually carry a stock of these sheets as a typical double garage requires approximately 30 sheets to line. If you are after a house lot please get in touch with our office and discuss with our staff, we can usually do a small discount for pack lots.
Downgrade ply is exactly what its name suggests. It has been downgraded due to issues with the board that are outside the specifications for non structural. These include delamination, edge damage and missing specifications for squareness. It is a good option for those with a temporary project such as hoardings or boxing for concrete. It is a cheap and cheerful product.
Downgrade ply is available both in treated and untreated in a variety of thicknesses. Suppliers can only supply downgrade from time to time when there have been problems in the manufacturing or treatment process. Please check with our office to see what is currently available.
